Hi, this is Dwiani, and I write articles about Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) reviews. I am writing the articles to help you choose the DAW that will fit your music needs. I reviewed Pro Tools in my previous article, so if you want to read it, you can check it out here.
Now, I might be biased, but the DAW that I will review in this article is the one that I use the most. It’s called Logic Pro. But before I tell you what I think about it, you should know that I am a composer, and the music that I write usually includes a lot of piano, orchestra, and vocal. So if you are a musician that writes similar kinds of music, then you might like Logic Pro like I do.
One of the biggest pros for Logic Pro is its sound library. It has a wide variety of sounds. From piano, to drums, to traditional instruments like gamelan or guzheng, Logic Pro has it all. Unlike in Pro Tools, you don’t need to get separate VSTs to get started in Logic Pro because they are already provided for you. In addition, Logic Pro also gives you audio samples and loop packs that you can use for free, including some beats and ambiance sounds. That is why Logic Pro is the DAW that I would recommend for beginners. You can just loop some samples, start singing on top of it, and boom! You just made a demo.
Another pro for Logic Pro is how user friendly it is. The layout is pleasing on the eyes, and it’s quite easy to find everything. Logic Pro has some built in plugins that can help you with basic audio editing, including compressor, EQ, delay, and reverb, and you can find everything on the Audio FX drop menu. The plugins are pretty good too, so you don’t have to invest in third-party plugins if you have a tight budget.

Of course, with so many pros, there are also cons. And the biggest con is you can only use Logic Pro with Apple products, like iMac or MacBook. In fact, I was a Windows user for decades before I discovered Logic Pro. And since I really wanted to use this DAW, I decided to break my piggy bank and buy myself a MacBook Pro. So, if you are already an Apple user, then good news, you can just buy Logic Pro from the App Store. If not, then you might want to consider other DAWs, especially if you can’t afford an Apple product.
In the end, I think Logic Pro is an awesome DAW, especially for composers like me. It’s beginner friendly, and it’s easy to use. It might be exclusive for Apple, but if you are willing to pay the price, you can get yourself a great DAW for your future music projects.
