Nat Jay is a Vancouver-based singer-songwriter. She is probably most known for her music that has been placed in multiple films and TV shows. You might have heard her songs in some of your favorite shows, including The Hills (MTV), Men in Trees (ABC), Heartland (CW), Continuum (Syfy), Botched (E!), The Perfect Bride (Hallmark), The Astronauts (Nickelodeon), Tiny Pretty Things (Netflix), and many more. And today, Nat Jay is dropping her fresh new album, “Turns Out It’s Not the End”.
The album title “Turns Out It’s Not the End” might raise some eyebrows. What does that mean? Well, Nat Jay admits that at one point in her long career, she decided to walk away from music. She put her music to sleep, and took another job in the industry. The reason behind that decision was because she was struggling mentally and physically as a singer-songwriter. And that’s understandable, it is a tough business. But after taking a step away and going to therapy, she realized that she is not done with music. In fact, she poured all her struggles into her songs, and she returned to the music world with a whole new perspective.

Collaborating with music producer Ovi Bistriceanu, Nat Jay walked back into the studio with a fresh mindset. In fact, she decided to make songs that sound completely the opposite of how she felt. You can definitely hear it in the first song of the album, “Feel Sad”. This is a song about a heartbreak, but she wrapped it in layers of synth and pumping electric drums. As a result, you can actually dance to this banger and you won’t feel sad anymore.
In this album, Nat Jay included six songs with a heavy electropop sound. She drew inspiration from different genres, including pop, jazz, R&B, hip hop, classical, and disco. Nat Jay collaborated with rapper Ty Avery in a fun bubbly song, “Slow Down”. And in “I Do What I Want”, she showed her flute skills where she played a thrilling solo in the interlude.

“Turns Out It’s Not the End” is a lively album with deep meanings. Nat Jay shared her struggle in her music, making it relatable to her fans. If you need a soundtrack for your tough life, go check out this album and get ready to dance your problems away.
